We invite faculty across campus to participate in a new Climate Studies Faculty Community of Practice!
WHO? Any and all faculty from across campus who are teaching (or who are interested in teaching) about climate change and climate solutions.
WHAT? A regular faculty gathering for learning from one another about climate pedagogy as well as to provide support around the challenges of climate teaching and learning.
WHEN/WHERE? Monthly gatherings during the 2026-27 academic year and possibly beyond. Fall 2026 dates include: October 9, November 6 and December 4, times and locations TBA. Join the Climate Studies Faculty Google Group for details.
WHY? To support the >120 faculty from >80% of academic departments who have participated in one of our climate course (re)design programs as well as to welcome and support other faculty members who are interested in developing their climate teaching. To provide a space for the co-development of climate teaching ideas. To build supportive and (re)generative community among climate studies faculty.
HOW? For each gathering, we’ll invite a couple of members of the community to give a short (10-15 min) presentation about their climate teaching approaches and experiences. We’ll follow these with discussion and activities. We want this program to be as useful as possible for Climate Studies Faculty, so members will get to collectively shape the focus and direction of this Community of Practice.
