EnROADS Climate Simulator For Your Class (The Quick and Easy Way)
Have you heard of EnROADS?
It’s a free, easy-to-use online tool that engages participants in exploring real-world climate strategies and their impact on global temperature change. It is used by educators, policymakers, and business leaders worldwide to drive informed conversations about climate change.
Join EnROADS Climate Ambassador and GES faculty member Marta Toran (bio below) for a lunchtime workshop (lunch provided by QEP) to get ideas and materials for integrating the simulator into your course or meeting. Complete this form to sign up!
Who is this workshop suitable for?
The workshop is geared towards non-expert faculty or students in leadership positions who want to introduce conversations about climate change policy in their lessons or meetings. The EnROADS climate simulator is suitable for any level course (no climate background required). It promotes critical and systems thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the challenges and solutions to climate change.
What is EnROADS?
EnROADS is an interactive climate action simulator developed by Climate Interactive and the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. It allows users to explore the impact of various policy and technology scenarios on global temperature and other critical metrics. By simulating actions such as implementing carbon pricing, transitioning to renewable energy, and improving energy efficiency, EnROADS provides a visually engaging and scientifically rigorous platform for understanding the complexities of climate solutions.
Workshop Overview:
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to integrate the EnROADS simulator into any climate-related course or meeting seamlessly. You’ll leave with:
- Adaptations of the EnROADS Climate Policy Role Play for 50-minute, 75-minute, and 2×75-minute class sessions.
- Ready-to-use slides and handouts tailored to each session length.
- Tips for facilitating engaging discussions and guiding participants through scenario analyses.
- Information about how to learn more about EnROADS and become an Ambassador.
By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped with everything you need to encourage thoughtful discussions about climate change policies and information about taking it to the next level.
